After a mini hiatus, things are up and running…and SUMMER IS HERE!
To kick off the warm months, Kenny Chesney lit up Wildwood last night with a free show on the beach. Unfortunately, I didn’t make it down there but I did catch the live stream. It looked awesome. It’s no doubt that Kenny puts on a great show. If you missed it, you can catch rebroadcasts of it on YouTube HERE.
Julianne Hough began her career as a dancer on the hit show Dancing With The Stars. After competing for five seasons and winning twice, she made a career move to country music and acting. There’s good news for fans of Julianne and the show…she’ll be back on this coming’s results show. Most likely her visit is in promotion for her new movie Footloose which is out in theaters next Friday. She’ll be performing to the movie’s theme song along with other cast members.
The movie’s soundtrack is heavy with country music. Blake Shelton covered the film’s theme song but there hasn’t been anything reported about whether or not he’ll be on DWTS to perform the tune. Below is the complete track listing:
1. Footloose – Blake Shelton
2. Where The River Goes – Zac Brown of Zac Brown Band
3. Little Lovin’ – Lissie
4. Holding Out For A Hero – Ella Mae Bowen
5. Let’s Hear It For The Boy – Jana Kramer
6. So Sorry Mama – Whitney Duncan
7. Fake I.D. – Big & Rich feat. Gretchen Wilson
8. Almost Paradise – Victoria Justice & Hunter Hayes
9. Walkin’ Blues – Cee Lo Green feat. Kenny Wayne Shepherd
10. Window Paine – The Smashing Pumpkins
11. Suicide Eyes – A Thousand Horses
12. Dance The Night Away – David Banner
The soundtrack actually look promising…not so sure how I feel about the remake of the classic movie, but I’ll let you know.
Martina McBride is always popping up in the media and especially this fall during her promotional push for her latest album, Eleven, due out October 11. Most recently she announced that she will light the world-famous Empire State Building “pink” on October 14 in an effort to raise awareness for breast cancer. The lighting will be followed by an event called “Martina McBride: Light Up the Sky: in partnership with Stanford Women’s Cancer Center,” which includes a VIP-invite reception and a private concert performance, showcased exclusively on Clear Channel Radio’s websites.
This honor is very fitting since her latest single “I’m Gonna Love You Through It” is a story about a woman undergoing breast cancer portrayed through the eyes of the woman’s husband. Martina is known for messages portrayed through song and this is certainly no exception.
Make sure you go out and buy Martina’s eleventh studio album, appropriately titled Eleven, on October 11.
Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney and Rascal Flatts represented country music at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas over the weekend. The two day event that quite possibly be the greatest idea ever for music buffs went down at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Artists such as Black Eyed Peas, Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, Coldplay, Bruno Mars, Kelly Clarkson and many others. The full lineup included acts from all different genres and considering tickets went at around $45 just about anybody could have snagged a ticket, of course before they sold out in a matter of minutes. Radio giant, Clear Channel, definitely scored with this hopefully annual festival and maybe there will be a chance to actually get to the show instead of relying on either listening online or through a gaming device.
Here’s some video of Carrie performing:
She also met up with Joe Jonas, but she was plastered all over gossip websites for her new hairstyle, bangs included…what do you think?
Plus, the trio performed one of my favorites “Fast Cars & Freedom”:
And Day Two of the festival included Kenny Chesney.
He performed hits such as “Beer In Mexico” and “Living In Fast Forward.” Check out the performance below:
Are you ready for some football? Plus it makes me even more excited that Kid Rock and Lady Antebellum will be kicking off the season with a pre-game concert.
Lady Antebellum and Kick Rock will join Maroon 5 to kick-off the NFL Season on September 8. The FREE concert will take place just prior to the season opener between the Green Bay Packers and the New Orleans Saints at Lambeau Field.
The 60 minute pregame show will air on NBC and NFL Network starting at 6:30 PM. Make sure you tune in! Lady A’s new album comes out soon after the concert on September 13 so make sure you get a copy.
While everyone was watching the MTV VMA’s last night, Taylor Swift was wrapping up her four night stint at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. For those of us who were watching knew Taylor wouldn’t be at the show but didn’t expect to see her in today’s entertainment news because of an unexpected surprise at her tour stop. It turns out that Nicki Minaj left the VMA’s and booked it to the Staples Center to duet her hit “Super Bass.” The two rocked it and you can check it out below.
Sugarland returned to the stage last night for their first performance since that stage collapsed at the Indiana State Fair on Saturday which killed five people. Jennifer Nettles asked the Albuquerque, New Mexico, audience for a moment of silence in honor of those injured and who lost their lives. They were joined on stage by their entire crew. Jenn sang “Love,” from the 2008 album Love on the Inside. Then they took a break and promised to return for a professional show minutes later.
Because the band’s elaborate “Incredible Machine” set and instruments were destroyed in the stage collapse, Sugarland performed in front of the basic black shell of the stage in Albuquerque, with just lights and a little smoke. They used new instruments that were delivered to Albuquerque earlier in the day.
Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert shared the stage during the Capital Hoedown Country Music Festival Friday night (August 12), offering a mash-up of Carrie’s Number 1 smash hit “Before He Cheats” and Miranda’s first Top 10 single, “Gunpowder and Lead.”
The Canadian music event, held in Ottawa, Ontario, hosted more than 45,000 eager country music fans throughout the three-day event. Reports of fan friction created after Carrie’s hockey player hubby was traded from Ottawa to Nashville, were obviously greatly exaggerated as Carrie’s performance was clearly well-received by her hubby’s former hometown crowd.
The two joined a lineup that also included Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Billy Currington, Sara Evans, Easton Corbin and Justin Moore.
Check out video footage below.
Rascal Flatts performed “The National Anthem” yesterday at the Brickyard. The trio sang a great rendition…check it out.
If you’ve been to a Taylor Swift show, and I have, you would know that the audience is filled mostly with teenage girls. Usually the high-pitch squealing gives it away. Besides most of her songs are written about teenage angst and ex-boyfriends. So, it makes sense that she sometimes thinks about how all those teenagers get to her shows. It only makes sense that moms and dads would be tagging along.
Recently Taylor appeared on the Hamish & Andy Show and discussed the idea of all the ‘Chaperone Dads’ in her audiences. For those of you who don’t know what the Hamish & Andy Show is, they are an Australian comedy duo that airs in Australia. Check out the interview…
